Update Kernel Parameters (as root)
Open /etc/sysctl.conf and set the following values. These are calculated to allow 
Oracle to use up to 16GB of your 18GB for shared memory (SGA):

kernel.shmmax: 17179869184 (16GB in bytes)

kernel.shmall: 4194304 (16GB / 4096 page size)
